This excursion exceeded our expectations and everyone is already asking if we can return next year for another adventure down the Sandusky river. For many of us this was the most exciting part of the trip! Everyone was soaked and tired but the memories will last forever. Wow, the rapids did not disappoint, everyone enjoyed the thrills of the last leg of the excursion as our boats quickly navigated the swift current and waterfall drops before jumping up over and through the waves. A few in our group decided to stop while they were safe and secure on land, however the majority of our group decided to go for the gusto and continue on our aquatic journey. There we were informed that we had the option to exit now and ride the shuttle or continue on for another bonus 30 minutes with a higher challenge involving Class 2 rapids, steeper vertical waterfall drops and faster moving water. There was some fast moving rapids with splashing and everyone got a little wet, but it was fairly easy for everyone to paddle successfully to our pull out location. Why did we need the Koko boats? Well, the first two hours of the excursion was exciting with a few rapids and small waterfalls. They were easy to maneuver and provided optimum buoyancy when navigating rough water and waterfalls. These military style kayaks are lightweight and utilized by the military for special ops missions. Our second day was awesome as we suited up and headed upstream in a shuttle bus to our drop-off location where we launched Koko (Kokopelli) inflatable boats. Our home ice is located at the Fremont Recreation Center located at 600 St. Day one it was mostly a calm running river with just a few rapids and short drops. The first day we saw over a dozen eagles flying overhead and perched on the trees above. We did a two day excursion with a group to Fremont, Ohio for kayaking with Ghoul Runnings.
